Who is eligible for an apartment at Embury?
Embury accepts applications from individuals at least 62 years of age or couples when one person is at least 62 or older.
How does Embury’s rental rate structure work?
Monthly rental rates are calculated based on the resident’s income and include utilities. Rental rates are established with the review and approval of the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Are meals available at Embury?
Each apartment has a kitchenette for meal preparation. However, a full, home-cooked dinner is offered at noontime each day in the Embury Commons for those who prefer to take advantage of this service. Residents need only make reservations for dinner one day in advance, and guests are always welcome. Charges for these meals are billed monthly.
What social opportunities are available at Embury?
Embury offers a wide range of scheduled activities ranging from musical programs to holiday parties, coffee socials to exercise classes. Comfortable resident lounges are available for residents who want to socialize with friends and neighbors.
May I have a pet in my apartment?
Yes. Embury allows pets. Restrictions apply and an annual fee is required.
Is Embury an assisted living facility?
No. Embury offers apartments for independent seniors who are able to fulfill the conditions of the apartment lease.
Are any direct care services available at Embury?
Embury does not provide direct health care services to residents. Resident Service Coordinators and a Resident Health Advisor are available to consult with residents on a variety of issues affecting seniors who live independently. Staff can assist residents to match appropriate campus and community resources with the resident’s health care and daily living needs.
Is there a waiting list for an apartment at Embury?
Yes. An applicant’s name is generally on the list for from two to six months while waiting for an apartment to become available.
